“My reasons for running are based on freedom and fiscal responsibility,” shares Wellwood. “Canada is a nation of laws that respects the rights of the individual. If we allow our government(s) to violate our rights and freedoms in times of crisis, government will always be there to create another crisis.”

Wellwood continues, “I personally reject a class society where some citizens have more rights than others and discrimination based on medical choice is no more acceptable than discrimination based on colour, race, gender, or sexual orientation. Canadians must stand united and defend our basic human rights and freedoms.”

As an entrepreneur with experience in health and wellness, aerospace and defence, and financial planning, Wellwood has enjoyed a diverse career. She is presently a chartered investment manager.

“Prior to 2019, I was very discouraged with politicians and politics. Corruption, dishonesty, and a lack of Canadian values, it was always a vote for the lesser evil. Then, Maxime Bernier came along with the People’s Party of Canada (PPC). It was about governance for the people based on principles and real values. For the first time in a decade, I felt there was hope,” she says.

When asked about Canada’s long-range goals, Wellwood feels that we must, “Revisit the laws we have in place that preserve, protect, and uphold the rights and freedoms of individuals to ensure we never see the kind of infringement we have seen these last 18 months. Government is the biggest expense in the lives of Canadians and yet not a single party (aside from the PPC) is proposing to reduce its size and expense. Inflation through the uncontrolled printing of money for the purpose of borrowing is making life for everyday Canadians unaffordable.”
