Telus Mobility says Alberta cellphone customers can again call 911 in an emergency

Telus says a cellphone outage that was affecting the ability of Alberta customers to call 911 has been resolved.

The communities of Red Deer, Airdrie, Clearwater County and Rockyford had each put out information alerts saying Telus Mobility customers weren't able to call for emergency help.

All of those alerts have been lifted.

Telus says in an email that the outage early Wednesday morning affected some customers at specific locations.

They say they immediately recognized the problem and notified the municipalities out of an abundance of caution.

Telus officials say they apologize for the disruption.

"We know how critical connectivity is for our customers, especially during this public health crisis, and we sincerely apologize for the service interruption," said an emailed statement.
