Banff RCMP investigating after body found in Bow River

BANFF – The Banff RCMP is investigating the death of a man whose body was recovered from the Bow River on Saturday (April 3).

Staff Sgt. Michael Buxton-Carr confirmed that RCMP responded with other emergency services to a report of a human body in the river near Glen Avenue in Banff at approximately 8 a.m.

In an email, Buxton-Carr said the deceased was identified as a 35-year-old man from Banff and the incident remains under investigation, with RCMP assisting the Office of the Medical Examiner.

"The RCMP do not suspect that this incident involved foul play," Buxton-Carr wrote. 

CORRECTION: A previous version of this article incorrectly reported the date the body was found as Sunday (April 4).
