BANFF – Are you missing a clarinet?

If so, you should give the Banff RCMP a call as officers uncovered several personal items of stolen property on June 11 following a two-month investigation.

"We noticed a trend of people reporting thefts from buildings in a common area with storage lockers," Staff Sgt. Michael Buxton-Carr said Monday (June 15).

"We did some surveillance and identified a couple of suspects, from there we got a search warrant and searched two residences and a vehicle."

Officers said the search warrant was successful as they recovered a number of stolen items including personal electronics, sporting goods, tools, musical instruments and clothing.

Buxton-Carr said they found Apple watches, snowboards, winter jackets, televisions, vacuum cleaners and a clarinet – all things that one would expect to find in a storage locker.

Paul Jacaban, 34, and Kim Tumaob, 27, both from Banff have been charged with breaking and entering, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Tumaob was also charged with failures to comply with a probation order and a judicial release order. RCMP said Jacaban was released by the police, and Tumaob was remanded in custody pending his next appearance in court.

Officers are now asking anyone who has been a victim of theft recently to contact the Banff RCMP at 403-762-6600 to determine if ownership can be established.
