BANFF – Local RCMP are seeking a suspect in connection to a series of thefts and frauds in Canmore and Banff over the past week.

According to a press release, between Dec. 2-10 a male suspect entered local businesses, stole wallets and purses and then used the credit cards to purchase items from other locations.

Banff RCMP indicate witnesses reported the suspect to be “very pushy” with staff and insisted purchase amounts be under $100 in order to enable the tap feature. He is described as Caucasian, aged 30-40 years old and approximately 5’8” to 5’10” in height, with short dark hair and a clean shaven face.

Banff RCMP also issued a warning to the public to keep a watchful eye on wallets and purses, and be vigilant for persons attempting to access restricted areas of businesses and using credit cards in a suspicious manner.

Anyone with information that could identify the suspect is asked to contact the Banff RCMP at 403-763-6600. To remain anonymous, the public may also contact CrimeStoppers at www.P3Tips.com or 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
