Icefields Parkway avalanche control tomorrow, Highway 93 closed

The closure will be in place for Highway 93 in both directions from the David Thompson Highway to the North Saskatchewan River.

ICEFIELDS PARKWAY – Motorists can expect up to two-hour delays on the Icefields Parkway tomorrow (Dec. 4) as crews work on avalanche control activities.

The closure will be in place for Highway 93 North in both directions from the David Thompson Highway to the North Saskatchewan River.

The closure is scheduled for noon and motorists can expect to be delayed for approximately two hours with an anticipated re-opening of the highway at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Icefields Parkway and road to Maligne Lake travel through several avalanche paths, with posted signs marking start and endpoints, according to the Parks Canada website.
