JASPER – Pursuit is partnering with Jasper's Mountain Park Lodges and the deal will add seven more hotel properties to the  company's portfolio of visitor experience-based businesses in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The two companies announced the partnership on Tuesday morning (May 28), but indicated regulatory approval from Parks Canada is required before they can formally integrate into one entity and Pursuit can take over operations of Mountain Park Lodges properties this spring. “We are inspired by living and working in some of the most beautiful places on earth and welcome Mountain Park Lodges to our growing collection of iconic experiences,” said Banff Jasper Collection by Pursuit president Dave McKenna in a press release. “We have a 127 year history of operating within these national parks and this partnership exemplifies our commitment to investing in the Jasper community while working diligently to preserve such an incredible place.” Pursuit currently owns and operates visitor experiences in Jasper including the Columbia Icefield Adventure, the Columbia Icefield Skywalk, Glacier View Lodge and Maligne Lake boat tours. The acquisition of Mountain Park Lodges significantly expands its portfolio of accommodation operations in the region. Pursuit's controlling interest in Mountain Park Lodges means the Crimson Hotel, Chateau Jasper, Lobstick Lodge, Marmot Lodge, Pocahontas Cabins and Pyramid Lake Resort will fall under its operations once all the details are finalized. “This is a partnership of two great companies with deep roots in these mountain parks,” said Mountain Park Lodges president  John Day in a press release. “This new partnership reaffirms our commitment to building long-term sustainability and growth within the community, while honouring Jasper’s rich history and authentic sense of place.” The new partnership also included the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre, owned by the Sawridge Group, a company created and led by the Sawridge First Nation near Slave Lake. “Led by Pursuit with ongoing support from the team at Mountain Park Lodges, this newly created company will continue to deliver an exceptional hospitality experience while showcasing the very best of Jasper,”  said Sawridge Group CEO John MacNutt. Pursuit, which re-branded from operating as Brewster Travel Canada several years ago, owns and operates a number of visitor experience and accommodation options in Banff, and is part of the Viad Corp. It also operates travel experiences in Alaska, Montana, Vancouver and Iceland. “At Pursuit we are focused on connecting guests to iconic places through unforgettable and inspiring experiences,” said Pursuit President David Barry.  “Jasper is one of those authentic and remarkable places that has the power to excite and inspire. We look forward to welcoming guests to our expanded portfolio of world-class lodging experiences, while we remain committed to working closely within the Jasper community.”
