Snowfall warning for Banff National Park

BANFF – Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Banff National Park early Thursday morning (June 20) at 6:30 a.m. According to the weather alert, snowfall amounts of about 10 cm is expected.

BANFF – Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Banff National Park early Thursday morning (June 20) at 6:30 a.m.

According to the weather alert, snowfall amounts of about 10 cm is expected. Some snow fell overnight in the Rocky Mountain national park already and will continue into tonight along portions of Highway 93 North, the Icefields Parkway.

The snowfall is expected to taper off Friday morning (June 21), according to the forecast by Environment Canada meteorologists. A rainfall warning was also issued for parts of the province to the northeast of the national park like Nordegg and Rocky Mountain House.

Drivers are asked to be prepared to adjust to changing road conditions and turn on their lights when visibility is reduced.

"Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected," stated the snowfall warning.
