BANFF – Banff police are searching for three people identified who used bear spray in an armed robbery at Canada Goose in Banff last month.
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Cavan Cachene, 34, of Brooks, Earl Norman, 29, of Mirror, and Jasmine HolyWhiteMan, 32.
“Do not approach,” said the Banff RCMP detachment in a Facebook post.
Police say they responded to a complaint of an armed robbery at the Canada Goose store on Sept. 24 after three people stole merchandise from the store.
“An employee of the store approached the suspects as they were fleeing,” according to the RCMP.
“A suspect assaulted the employee with bear spray to complete the robbery.”

Meanwhile, in a separate case, Banff RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence on Marten Street on Oct. 21 in relation to several investigations of stolen fuel and sporting equipment.
Police say the search resulted in the recovery of stolen property, including a vehicle that had been stolen in Ontario and a kayak and Thule cargo box that had been stolen from a vehicle parked at a ski resort near Banff.
In addition, two bicycles that had been stolen in Banff and Canmore, sporting and camping equipment stolen from Banff, and brass knuckles were also recovered.
Andrew Meloche, 26, a resident of Hamilton, Ont., has been charged with 27 criminal offences, some of which include theft, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of methamphetamine, possession of prohibited weapon and failure to comply with a probation order.
Meloche was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Canmore Provincial Court on Nov. 2, 2022.
Meanwhile, residents are reminded of the community discussions at Banff Elementary School on Thursday (Oct. 27) at 5 p.m.
The meeting was set up following two stabbing murders in Banff this summer.
“After recent tragic events, our community is concerned about public safety,” according to a statement from Banff RCMP.
“We want to meet you and have this important conversation in person.”
This will be an opportunity to speak with leadership of the RCMP in southern Alberta as well as local detachment personnel about police priorities and strategies to manage issues that affect Banff residents.
Participants will be able to speak with experts from the RCMP and community agencies about issues including road safety, cybersecurity, sexual violence, community engagement, a career with the RCMP, and the coordinated work involving the Banff RCMP and bar industry professionals.
