The slate of four mayoral candidates and 14 council contenders weigh in on support or opposition to an aerial gondola base station belongs in the area redevelopment plan for the train station lands based on Parks Canada's previous decisions and letters to the Town of Banff.

“We need people to be aware of the danger of leaving any type of animal attractant out. It can start as somebody just thinking they’re doing something innocently to having the potential to do damage to wildlife.”

“We thought the matter was significant enough, the risk was significant enough that it did merit public notification,” said Staff Sgt. Buxton-Carr.

“The Banff car was struck while the vehicle fled,” said Cpl. Shane Fletcher, adding no RCMP officers were injured and the police vehicle had minor damage to the front-end.

“This is an interesting idea that needs to be explored a little bit more, obviously accepting the fact that there could be huge precedent set here,” said Banff Councillor Grant Canning.

While concerns centred on housing costs, wanting to be close to family, availability of dwellings and accessing appropriate support services in the community, 93 per cent of seniors surveyed were satisfied or very satisfied with the current housing situation.

“Overwhelmingly, customers are complying right now and not causing problems for front-of-house staff… the survey corresponds with what I have heard from our front-of-house staff in our restaurant businesses," said Councillor Peter Poole.
