Two years after first entering the political realm, Cochrane's Nadine Wellwood is once again representing the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) in the upcoming federal election.

“It helps us understand what is important to the community and what they're seeing as issues that affect their daily lives. We won’t be changing our response to calls for service as they come in, but it will help along the lines of our proactive policing and interacting with town residents.”

As voters prepare to head to the polls for a federal election on Sept. 20, the current governing party has unveiled its candidate for the Banff-Airdrie riding.

“Losing one grizzly bear, irrespective of whether it’s a male or female, is one too many, but it’s that much more of an impact when it’s a reproducing female."

Blake Richards, the member of Parliament for the Conservative Party and the incumbent the Banff-Airdrie riding, submitted his nomination to run in the upcoming federal election on Sept. 20.
