The last week in the Bow Valley saw additional public health restrictions lifted as pre-COVID-19 life slowly began to repair as tourists flocked to the valley, patios reopened and residents were out-and-about.

The Banff and Lake Louise Hospitality Association is looking to the Town of Banff to align its messaging and policies to provincial health restrictions.

“With the rising cost of construction and lack of easily developable land in Banff, the cost of constructing new affordable residential housing is becoming increasing difficult – not financially viable,” said Philip Tarchuk.

“We were actually very concerned because it did rise very quickly and it was even rising overnight,” said Silvio Adamo, the director of emergency management for the Town of Banff.

“We could be as high as 91 per cent first dose for people 12 and up and nine per cent fully vaccinated,” said Silvio Adamo, the Town of Banff’s director of emergency management.

The Calgary Region Airshed Zone – which includes Banff, Canmore and the MD of Bighorn – received an award from the Alberta Emeral Foundation recently for work it does to monitor and educate people about air quality in the region.
