“To change those fees halfway through the year, even with the best of intentions, somebody’s going to deem that unfair,”

“When we’re in extreme, we have fire crews that are on standby 24 hours, including a fire duty officer that's there to respond to any smoke reports that we receive from the public and or staff,” said Jane Park, fire and vegetation specialist for Banff National Park.

“I feel a lot of the low-hanging fruit has already been plucked, so we need to continue pushing and the reality is that it’s going to come with some budget requests … but what [staff] can’t do needs to be covered and I think having this conversation at service review when we have the bigger picture in front of us is the most appropriate place to have it.”

“We had more than 30,000 vehicles counted at the entrances on Saturday, and anything over 24,000 means we are guaranteed to have traffic delays in town,” said Jason Darrah, the director of marketing and communications for the Town of Banff.

“The objective of the operation was to maintain public safety and public confidence through a visible police presence, pro-active engagement with the Hells Angels members, and enforcement of federal and provincial statutes."
