Airdrie RCMP respond to discovery of body along Highway 2

Airdrie Rural RCMP are investigating the discovery of a dead body on the southbound lanes of Highway 2 near Balzac this morning.

AIRDRIE, Alta — A 36-year-old Airdrie resident was found dead in the lanes of Highway 2 near Balzac on July 4, and RCMP officers believe the man fell from the Highway 566 overpass.

According to an Airdrie RCMP press release, officers responded to a report of a deceased person at 3:22 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the body in the southbound lanes of the highway.

"Investigators believe the male may have fallen from the Highway 566 overpass onto Highway 2," the detachment stated, adding the identity of the deceased male will not be released.

In light of the discovery, Airdrie RCMP are looking for anyone who may have dash camera footage for Highway 566 and/or Highway 2 between the hours of 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on July 4.
