BONNYVILLE, Alta. - After responding to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in a rural area, Bonnyville RCMP found a loaded shot gun and charged an Elk Point man under the Criminal Code.
On Nov. 15 at 1:20 a.m., Bonnyville police were alerted to a suspicious vehicle that had entered a driveway for a rural residence. The vehicle reportedly pulled out of the driveway and parked on a nearby roadway.
"RCMP attended the location and found an intoxicated male passed out behind the wheel of an uninsured truck," according to information from Bonnyville RCMP. "Further investigation determined the male had firearms in the vehicle with him including a loaded shotgun."
The man was issued provincial sanctions for having "care and control" of a vehicle while he was impaired and was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving an uninsured vehicle. He was also charged under the Criminal Code for being in possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose.
The 33-year-old man, who was not named by RCMP, is set to appear in court on Dec. 20.
