A video feed of the Edmonton verification centre where votes are being counted in Premier Jason Kenney's leadership review emerged on social media Thursday.

Albertans with a valid United Conservative Party membership were eligible to cast a vote in the decision over Kenney's fate.

Votes were initially meant to be cast at the party's special general meeting on April 10, before the format was moved to mail-in ballots following a surge of registrants which could not be accommodated at the original Red Deer location, according to the UCP board.

Members were to receive their ballots the week following the meeting, with the return deadline set for May 11 at 5 p.m.

Results are expected to be announced May 18, 39 days later than initially indicated.

The premier's most active critics have taken aim at the sanctity of the vote, particularly newly-returned Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche MLA Brian Jean, alongside consistent dissenters Central Peace-Notley MLA Todd Loewen and Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Drew Barnes.

Kenney has consistently said he has confidence he will land on top following the vote.

The livestream can be viewed via unitedconservative.ca/livestream/ and is expected to be active up and until the conclusion of the review.
