Canmore RCMP has received multiple complaints related to the website www.estatepartnersgroup.com.

Following investigations, police now believe this website – which advertised various rental properties in southern Alberta including Canmore that are not currently available on the rental market – is fraudulent.

“Once victims are contacted, they are often sent documents to complete including falsified lease agreements and background check requests that require personal information and appear legitimate,” said Cpl Shane Fletcher of Canmore RCMP in a news release.

“Upon receipt of these documents, victims are asked to an e-transfer which may or may not include a damage deposit. The victims are not contacted again once the funds have been transferred.”

The RCMP is strongly urging the public to conduct thorough due diligence when using this, and other rental websites, in order to confirm that these are legitimate properties for rent.
