CANMORE – The Canmore RCMP is advising against any non-essential travel on the Trans-Canada Highway due to heavy snow and poor road conditions.
A press release issued at 7:30 p.m. Friday (Oct. 16) states non-essential travel near Lac Des Arcs on the TCH is not recommended in either direction.
"Road conditions are deteriorating with snow and ice accumulation and traffic is proceeding very slowly," stated the release.
Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise and Spray Valley Provincial Park remain under a snowfall warning with 10 to 15 centimetres expected overnight.
According to Environment Canada, the highest amounts of snow are expected along the foothills and Rocky Mountains.
