All patrons who were at the facility are also being notified of the possible exposure, and the municipality is working with Alberta Health Services.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw tweeted Saturday that Alberta has recorded 1,026 cases over the prior 24-hour period, marking the first time there were more than 1,000 daily cases in the province since the beginning of the pandemic. There were also three deaths, bringing the total number of Albertans who have died from COVID-19 to 401.

"In the days ahead, we all have a role to play in getting case numbers down to protect our health care system, keep schools and businesses open, and protect vulnerable Albertans," wrote Hinshaw. "This is our last chance to avoid more restrictive measures."

According to the geospatial map on Alberta Health Services website, there were seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Canmore as of Saturday, 23 in Banff and Lake Louise, and six in the MD of Bighorn. As of Thursday (Nov. 12), Banff and Lake Louise were considered at an enhanced status due to the sharp rise in cases.

As a result, bars, lounges and pubs in those communities are required to stop serving alcohol at 10 p.m. and close at 11 p.m. until Nov. 27.

Additional public health measures were also introduced for Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge and Red Deer. Those additional measures included a ban on indoor fitness classes and sports activities, as well as performance activities; a 15-person limit on all social gatherings; and a 50-person limit for weddings and funerals.

The Town of Canmore has a mandatory mask bylaw, requiring the public to wear a mask in indoor public places. It is also strongly recommended that people wear masks outdoors when it is not possible to be two metres apart.

Public health officials are also asking the public to limit in-person social and family interactions; to stay home if sick; to wash their hands regularly; and maintain physical distancing.
