Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy currently has a wait list of about 17 students because it doesn’t have anymore more space, while the Candian Rockies Public School division continues to see declining enrolment. The vast differences between school divisions isn’t unique to the Bow Valley and has sparked a campaign at the provincial level to establish a single public school system similar to other provinces in Canada. CANMORE – A new principal has been announced for Our Lady of Snow Catholic Academy.

Jamie Landry has accepted the role as principal and will begin transitioning into the new job as of August 2019.

Landry previously worked at St. John Paul II Catholic School in Stony Plain as a vice-principal.

In a release sent out from the CTR Catholic School Board, Landry is described as “a strong advocate of meeting the diverse needs of student and ensuring all students experience success.”

OLS former principal, Phil Puurunen, stepped down from his role earlier this year so he could spend some more time with his family.

“With our board office being in Okotoks, the principalship requires quite a few late evenings and I was missing many of my daughter’s extra-curricular activities, as well as bedtimes,” he wrote in an email.

“I am very excited to work with Jamie Landry in the future. Having met him on a recent visit, I am fully confident that he will be a wonderful addition to Our Lady of the Snow.”
