Power Tuesday still on for most Canmore grocery stores

While Nutters has postponed its Power Tuesday promotion, Save-On-Foods and Safeway will offer their customers a discount the first Tuesday of the month. However, both will limit the number of shoppers allowed inside the store at one time.

CANMORE – Two of three local grocery stores in Canmore will continue to offer "Power Tuesday" savings during the COVID-19 public health crisis.

Save-On-Foods and Safeway will both offer a discount on groceries on the first Tuesday of the month – known as Power Tuesday – throughout the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

While Save-On-Foods manager, Scott Gilbert, confirmed Thursday (March 2) the Canmore store would continue with the local discount tradition.

“Yes we are [continuing with Power Tuesday], but we are limiting how many customers can come into the store at one time,” he said.

Safeway manager, Mike Stiles, said that would also continue with Power Tuesday with all the necessary precautions in place, including limited number of individuals in store.

Meanwhile, Canmore’s Nutters Everyday Naturals said in its voicemail message that it is postponing the event until further notice.

Power Tuesday has been an on going local perk within the town in which local grocery stores offer a discount on the first Tuesday of every month. The stores offer a 15-20 per cent discount on groceries, though some conditions apply. Save-On, for example, requires a purchase of $50 or more.
