CANMORE – The Town of Canmore is asking the public for feedback on current concept drawings for a new enhanced Quarry Lake Park.
Working to refine the current concept, the Town has drawings for new design plans under consideration for the beaches at Quarry Lake, a wedding venue, as well as the parking lot.
An online survey, which was opened officially on Sept. 30, will close Friday (Oct. 18) at noon.
According to the municipality's website, the projects do not have an approved budget yet, and the Rocky Mountain Heritage Foundation, which co-owns the park with the Town, will be undertaking a fundraising campaign to help pay for the improvements.
The proposed enhancement plan would see the introduction of a jumping platform, as well as an amphitheatre. In 2014, the Town of Canmore conducted a survey asking the community to address a few questions surrounding the plan, including what they feel is important at the popular destination and what should be kept the same.
The plan has proved to be a contentious one for the community, as some feel it would destroy the natural look of the lake.
