BOW VALLEY – A new resource for businesses in the Bow Valley looking for support to navigate the uncertain future given the COVID-19 pandemic will soon be available.

Business Link’s new Resilient Recovery Program is designed to help business owners get back on their feet and mitigate the effects of any future business interruptions.

“We don’t want business owners to think they are just getting some kind of template that they fill in the blanks on. It’s a plan that is customized and suited to each of these business owners,” said Mark Shields, a small business strategist with Business Link, who had a hand in developing the program.

“Our goal with this program is to establish a plan for these small businesses to help mitigate the effects of any future hardships and plan for disaster recovery strategies that they can apply to their operations immediately, and to any emergencies that arise in the future.”

The program is intended for business owners who have run a small business in Alberta for at least the past year.

“We are looking for businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which we understand is everyone," Shields said. "What we are looking for are the business owners who are currently seeking solutions and figuring out how to position their businesses for optimal recovery.”

There is no cost to apply for the program, except for Shield's own time. There will be a total of four hours of coaching time, and several hours of time will likely be needed to complete assigned tasks.

There is limited space for the province-wide program and the deadline to apply is Sept. 1.
