CANMORE – Two Canmore men are facing charges in relation to a violent assault in the Hospital Hill neighbourhood last week.

Sgt. Stan Andronyk confirmed the assault occurred early Thursday morning (July 22) at approximately 2:20 a.m. when the RCMP responded to a male asking residents of the Three Sisters Drive area for help.

The investigation at the scene led officers to believe two males known to the victim in a nearby residence were responsible.

Andrew Jordan Davis, 32, and Riley Bearss, 40, were subsequently charged with aggravated assault.

According to Andronyk, after a judicial interim release hearing both were released with conditions and are set to appear in Canmore Provincial Court on Aug. 19.

"All parties involved in this incident are known to each other, and this appears to have been a targeted attack against the victim," Andronyk wrote in the press release.

"There is no indication that there is any increased risk to the community as a result of this incident."
