A 67-year-old Canmore man is dead following a serious motor vehicle collision on Palliser Trail in Canmore on Thursday afternoon (April 20).

“We are dealing with highway speeds because it is a highway off-ramp, it is going to require safety audits and we don’t want to rush the process"

Despite weather suggesting the contrary, wildfire season has returned to the province, taking up the better part of the year running from March 1 to Oct. 31. While snow can linger well into May and make periodic appearances any other day of the year, the hot spots for potential fire dangers are around the corner.

“Our biggest hurdles have been access to land and funding. Being able to add this 2.3-hectare lot to the Town of Canmore’s available land inventory will provide much-needed housing and this is a very big win for our community.”

Officers were alerted around noon on April 15 that Joan McGregor, who was last seen alive Feb. 17, had been found. Her death is not deemed suspicious.
