Cougar attacks dog in Kananaskis Country

KANANASKIS – A cougar that attacked a dog has prompted a warning in Kananaskis Country.

The warning, which went into effect on Sunday (March 14), includes  Mount Kidd Residence, Mount Kidd RV park, and Bill Milne trail from the Kananaskis Golf Course to Wedge Pond.

“Although an advisory is in place for this area, cougars can be encountered anywhere in the Kananaskis Region and at any time,” stated an advisory from Alberta Parks.

To avoid a surprise encounter with a cougar: make plenty of noise and travel in groups, be aware of your surroundings, look and listen for cougars and their signs, and keep pets on a leash.
