LAKE LOUISE – Residents and visitors in the village of Lake Louise are being told to boil their water.
Only properties serviced by the Lake Louise water distribution system are affected by this boil water advisory, which Parks Canada put in place about noon on Monday (Aug. 19). It remains in place for at least 48 hours.
“Following the interruption in water services caused by a water main break on Saturday, August 17, a boil water advisory has been put in place as a precaution due to possible increased turbidity caused by refilling of the Lake Louise Reservoir, “ wrote Lesley Matheson, partnering and engagement officer for Lake Louise, Yoho and Kootenay, in a notice.
Visitors and residents are advised to boil water for a minimum of two minutes before drinking it, washing fruit and vegetables, brushing teeth or washing dishes.
“Water does not need to be boiled for bathing, showering, or washing clothing during this advisory,” wrote Matheson.
