A family member of the couple killed by a grizzly bear in the wilderness of Banff National Park says he knew something was terribly wrong as soon as he received a call with a message from their satellite device.

“I just want folks to know that’s the process to finish up the present 4 year ed plan and start moving toward a new one.”

“This is a tragic situation and out of respect for the victims and their families, Parks Canada has a responsibility to ensure information is confirmed and accurate before releasing it publicly,” she said in an email Monday morning (Oct. 2).

Two people are dead following a grizzly bear attack in Banff National Park, according to Parks Canada.

“And then as a result, missed appointments harm patients – both those who missed their appointment, but also those who aren’t seen because of the spot that’s been taken and having to wait longer to be seen.”

There is an elephant in the room, and no one dares name it.

“But based on the clip that is online, it does not look to me like the bears are stalking people. I think they were just walking on the trail, just going from A to B."

“What we’ve seen is if transit is more convenient and easier, people will start to use it. … The ones who don’t have cars are waiting for the bus, but people who have a car will jump in their car because they don't want to wait,”

All signs are pointing toward an El Niño weather pattern for Banff National Park, Kananaskis Country and across Western Canada in 2023-24.
