BOW VALLEY – Laurie Edward has been appointed as the new Banff Canmore Community Foundation executive director.

Taking over duties on Oct. 5, the new director brings years of experience in program innovation, community engagement and strategic management with an impressive resumé as program manager in roles at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and Mountain Equipment Co-op.

"I'm inspired by the contributions so many have made to the foundation over the last 10 years – donors, board members, volunteers, partners and staff – to build this thriving organization," Edward wrote in a press release.

"Looking ahead, I'm excited about the role Banff Canmore Community Foundation can play in enabling everyone to participate in creating inclusive, sustainable communities here."

The new executive director replaces Bill Fisher, who has been in the role since December 2018.

"I have truly enjoyed working as the executive director. I have learned so much over the past two years about our Bow Valley community and it was a pleasure working with our board of directors, volunteers, staff, donors, partners and grant recipients," Fisher wrote.

In 2015, the Banff Canmore Community Foundation officially changed its name and the geographic region served to include Banff, Canmore and surrounding area. The mission is to support the community in arts, education, environment, health, heritage, recreation and social services.
