The body found yesterday on Highway 22 has been identified as Hanock Afowerk, 26, the fourth victim in a quadruple murder.

Aforwerk’s body was found on July 12 at approximately 8 a.m. north of the Highway 8 traffic circle. Cochrane RCMP, RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigators and forensics investigators shut down the highway for approximately eight hours, identifying the body as Afowerk on July 13.

Afowerk is the fourth victim identified in the quadruple murder after three people were found in a burnt out car in Sage Hill in Calgary on July 10. The other three victims are Glynnis Fox, 36, and sister Tiffany Ear, 39, both from Stoney Nakoda First Nation, along with 25-year-old Cody Pfeiffer.

Calgary Police Services (CPS) are exploring the possibility that victims Fox, Ear and Pfeiffer were “simply at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. ”

“Fox and Ear were sisters that may have gotten caught up in a targeted attack again Afowerk, ” a CPS press release stated.

At this point police are “stressing ” the brutality and ruthlessness of the murders and are appealing to the public for any information that may be of help to the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
