A Calgary man has died after a fall from a third-floor balcony of a Banff hotel.

Joshua Leonard Markham, 22, was found deceased by RCMP on Friday (Jan. 7) at 10 a.m. when they were called to the Best Western in Banff. He was found dead as a result of a fall from the third-storey balcony and alcohol is believed to be a factor.

RCMP do not suspect foul play, but the incident is under investigation and an autopsy planned.

The incident is the second in a month for the hotel. On Dec. 18 a Calgary man was arrested for jumping from a third floor hotel balcony while trying to elude RCMP.

Kenneth Allan Funk landed on a police car before hitting the ground. He was not seriously injured.
