Two people have been arrested and charged with drug offences after RCMP raided a pair of homes last week.
The residences entered by police on Dec. 15-16 included a condo near the hospital and a basement suite in a home off Elk Run Boulevard. A 45-year-old male and a 25-year-old female were arrested and charged with multiple offences, including trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking of cocaine and marijuana, cultivation of marijuana and proceeds of crime. They will appear in court in Canmore in January.
RCMP seized 15 grams of cocaine, half a kilo of marijuana, more than $1,000 in cash, a 2008 Ford Edge used to transport drugs and drug paraphernalia, including a closet-sized mini grow op, which housed a dozen plants.
The raid was a result of “an ongoing investigation and assistance from the public,” said Cpl. Jack Wrobel, Wednesday (Dec. 21). “We’d like to thank the public for their help.” The RCMP’s search dog was also used in the investigation.
Canmore RCMP would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activities to their local police department.
