An early morning fire caused damage to one of the hotel rooms at Lake Louise Inn this past weekend.

Lake Louise RCMP and Fire Department responded on Saturday (June 25) after staff detected a fire in a guest room.

Lake Louise Inn general manager Kelly Anne Yeaman said the room was unoccupied by the guest at the time and no one was injured in the blaze, which was contained to the one room on the second level of building four.

Yeaman commended staff and the fire department for responding quickly and effectively.

“If people had not reacted as quickly as they did it may not have been a happy ending,” she said.

The cause of the fire, which began in the bathroom, is still under investigation, but RCMP said the blaze does not appear suspicious.

Extensive smoke damage to the suite is estimated at $10,000 to $20,000.
