Stoney Nakoda mothers Glynnis Fox, 36, and Tiffany Ear, 39, have been identified as two of the victims in a quadruple murder.

A cousin of Stoney Nakoda sisters Tiffany Ear, 39, and Glynnis Fox, 36 - both victims in a recent quadruple murder - said the mothers will be “missed by a lot of people. ”

“I’m so shocked, ” said Benji Hunter, 34, Nation resident who grew up closely with Fox and Ear.
“They were loving and outgoing sisters, they loved to be around people and they loved their culture and family and kids. ”

Ear and Fox’s bodies were found in a burnt out car in Sage Hill in Calgary on July 10 at approximately 7 a.m. after the Calgary Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire. A third body was also in the car that has since been identified as 25-year-old Cody Pfeiffer.

Calgary Police Services released a statement on Thursday saying investigators are exploring the possibility that Fox, Ear and Pfeiffer were “simply at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. ”

Officers believe the mothers might have been causalities in a targeted attack against Hancock Afowerk, owner of the burnt out car, whose body was found two days later by Cochrane RCMP on July 12 on Highway 22, north of the traffic circle on Highway 8.

Hunter said the sisters were two people that you just wanted to “be around. ”

“They would make you feel comfortable and made you feel like a part of the family, ” Hunter explained.
“They weren’t bad people - they were good people, always smiling and telling jokes. ”

Police are currently searching for additional crime scenes, as they believe multiple people may be involved.

“(We) are stressing the brutality and ruthlessness of the murders and are appealing to the public once again for any information that may be of help to the investigation in order to piece together what happened, ” a press release on July 13 stated.
“Though police are unable to elaborate, all victims suffered traumatic injuries. ”

While shocked at the loss of his family, Hunter said the sisters were outgoing and loved everyone.

“They put their trust in so many people … it shouldn’t have been them, ” Hunter said.

The incident is being treated as a homicide, marking Calgary’s 13th - 15th homicide of the year.

Calgary Police are asking anyone with information to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234 or anonymously by Crime Stopper at 1-800-222-8477.
