Lake Louise supports BCF renovations

Lake Louise Ski Resort has donated $20,000 towards renovations at 214 Banff Avenue and further funds to support the Banff Community Foundation grant program over the next four years.

Lake Louise Ski Resort has donated $20,000 towards renovations at 214 Banff Avenue and further funds to support the Banff Community Foundation grant program over the next four years.

The ski hill has committed $7,500 each year for the foundation’s community grants, bringing the total amount pledged $50,000 to the Lake Louise Ski Resort.

“The Lake Louise Ski Resort and the Locke family have shown tremendous leadership with this gift. This decision made by their family business to support the renovation campaign at 214 Banff Avenue, as well as their commitment to support our community grants program for the next four years, illustrates a company with a vision that is interested in social impact investing,” board chair of the foundation Bill Fisher said. “The region we serve from Lake Louise to Exshaw will reap the benefits of the Lake Louise Ski Resort decision for years and years to come.”

The $20,000 donation is to go towards the renovation of 214 Banff Avenue and the foundation has raised over $100,000. The goal is to raise $150,000 by the end of July.

“Many of the people in the Banff community are long time skiers and snowboarders at Lake Louise and we really appreciate their support. This donation is our way of giving back to the community and to all the people who make it a great place to live, as well as a way to help secure our Banff National Park goals and values for our generations to come,” Lake Louise Ski Resort owner Charlie Locke said.

The office on Banff Avenue is now functional for operations and will soon be open to the community as a collaborative and shared space.

With the fundraising campaign in full swing, the foundation said an anonymous donor has also stepped up and offered to match the next $10,000 on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
