This is a photo of my father on June 5, 1944, sitting in his amphibious ambulance jeep in Portsmouth, ready to load onto a craft, which landed him on Juno Beach the next day, D-Day. He was unaware the photo had been taken at the time – and saw it for the first me in a book commemorating the 40th anniversary of D-Day. He fought through northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands, crossing into Germany the day before Victory in Europe Day.
