COVID-19

Sixty-nine more Albertans have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since Friday and one more person has died, bringing the total number of deaths in the province to 40.

In total, 1,569 people have so far come down with the virus in the province. Seven hundred seventy-four of those have recovered.

Forty-seven people are in hospital and 13 have been admitted to intensive care. Two hundred sixteen of the cases are thought to have been acquired in the community.

In a media release Saturday afternoon, the province stated another resident of the McKenzie Towne continuing care facility has died, bringing the total number of people who have died from COVID-19 at that facility to 18. To date, 172 cases of the virus have been confirmed at continuing care facilities.

Beginning next week, continuing care workers will be required to wear masks at all times when providing direct patient care or working in patient-care areas. Workers in long-term care and designated supportive living facilities will only be allowed to work at one location.
