BANFF – The Bow Valley Naturalists are launching its 2020 speaker series with an informative talk that will dive into the fascinating story about the changing colour of alpine lakes in the Rocky Mountains.

Mother and son duo, Milaine Thériault and Xavier McKeever, was the first team to finish in Sunday's Lake Louise to Banff Loppet & Relay. Ian Murray won the overall solo category.

Reece Howden and Kevin Drury fought it out in the big final, finishing first and second; while Brittany Phelan claimed silver in the women's race.

Kayla Dallyn and Genevieve Soler will be heading to Ottawa to officially receive the Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Teaching on Monday (Jan. 20) after the educators partnered up with elders from Stoney Nakoda, artsPlace and the University of Calgary to create a unique learning experience for students

"I appreciate administration's comments and concerns for our residents and businesses in that vicinity," said Mayor Karen Sorensen. "I think this is a good call for that reason. I remember seeing this project for the first time last year and it was stunningly beautiful. I would love to get this done."

Canmore's Luke Philp has been lighting up the AHL.

Artists Cedar Mueller and Pascale Oullet will be meeting with guests for the Unbridled exhibition's featured artists talk on Saturday (Jan. 18) as part of the Banff Gallery Hop. The event runs from 2-4 p.m. and the duo will be hand to speak with guests about their work.
