Artist's two designs selected for Lake Louise world cup posters

Austrian artist Lukas Unterlercher won the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup poster design contest

LAKE LOUISE – Two posters were chosen for the 2019 Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup after organizers unveiled the winning contest pieces this week.

Lukas Unterlercher, a 19-year-old artist from Austria, submitted the winning designs titled “Perfect Line" and "Fastest Line,” which will be used for the men’s and women’s event posters for the November and December races.

Unterlercher's original designs were hand drawn on paper and feature an alpine skier in each picture.

"We knew our ski community had many creative artists within and we look forward to being able to showcase an artist on the international stage," said Robert Imbrogno, Chief Executive Officer, Winterstart Events Ltd., in a press release.

Organizers put a call out to artists in August for “any two-dimensional creative medium including drawing, painting, photography or mixed media.”

A “record 23 entries from across the globe” were submitted in the contest.

Unterlercher, a former national alpine ski racer, has been studying digital 3-D modelling, artistic editing of different materials and graphic design while at the School of Object Design and Sculpture (HTL Bau und Design).

Both winning pieces will be signed, framed and auctioned off during the world cup event.
