BOW VALLEY – In memory of Ethan Enns-Goneau, a signed Winnipeg Jets jersey is up for auction with proceeds helping underprivileged Bow Valley kids play sports.

The Jets were in Alberta in early October during pre-season and visited Banff for closed practices on the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre ice. While in town, the team met with the family of Enns-Goneau, a local who tragically passed away last summer, and together celebrated his love of hockey and favourite NHL club.

As part of the meet and greet, the players autographed a dark blue home jersey. Then on behalf of the team and family, the jersey was donated for auction to help fundraise for KidSport Bow Valley, which provides up to $500 per child for families in need to support registration fees in organized sports.

“With this, the family was keen on doing the auction in Ethan’s name,” said Amanda Arbuckle, board member for KidSport Bow Valley.

KidSport Bow Valley coordinated the meet and greet with the Enns-Goneau family and the Jets at the Fenlands.

“There’s 133 kids this year that we were able to support with an average of about $300 per registration.

“We know we have lots of kids who love hockey and like watching NHL teams like the Jets and we have kids definitely in the bow valley that KidSport Bow Valley have helped them play and that’s pretty amazing.”

Included in the auction with the signed jersey are a Jets’ hat, a blue warm-up jacket, and a grey hoodie.

Those interested can bid until Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. at www.elevateauctions.com/kidsportbowvalley.
