CANMORE – Following the biggest game of his career, Canmore prospect Noah Philp has signed a deal with the Edmonton Oilers.
Philp, 23, inked a one-year contract with the NHL club that begins in the 2022-23 season. He joins the California-based Bakersfield Condors, the Oilers AHL affiliate, for the remainder of the season.

The six-foot-three forward just wrapped up three seasons at the University of Alberta. In his final season with the Golden Bears, he helped the team win the Canada West title and reach the U Sports University Cup Final. The Golden Bears were defeated 5-4 in double-overtime by the UQTR Patriotes on April 3.
The centre/winger was a stud in the big game, scoring two goals and an assist.
In two seasons with the Bears, Philp was a point-a-game-guy with 20 goals and 36 points in 36 games.
The right-handed shooter has also played for the WHL's Kootenay Ice and Seattle Thunderbirds, and for the hometown Canmore Eagles of the AJHL.
In 2018-19, Philp was called in for two games with the AHL's Stockton Heat.
Philp's older brother, Luke, has been a forward with the Heat, the Calgary Flames affiliate team, for the past three seasons.
Both the Condors and Heat clinched Calder Cup playoff spots, which starts in May.
