BOW VALLEY – Without sports competitions for the time being, Rocky Mountain Adaptive (RMA) is offering an alternative and encouraging some exercise and fun out in the sun.

EndurAbility, a socially distanced fundraiser, is challenging participants and teams to run, ride or roll and complete an active challenge in 30 or 60 days before Aug. 15.

“You complete the challenge virtually, so, for example, you just count the elevation or maybe take on a challenge hiking locally like Ha Ling,” said Vick McCulloch, RMA’s communications and fundraising coordinator.

“We’re encouraging people again this summer to get active in the community and enjoy being outside.”

Once registered, participants can download the app Strava to track progress, create a fundraising page, and collect prizes and swag as challenges are completed.

Registration for individuals or teams closes June 15 for the 60-day challenge, and July 15 for the 30-day.

Created last year, EndurAbility was a product of the pandemic – a way to help keep fit and be outside.

Additionally, RMA's ForeAbility, a day of golf in Canmore, is returning this June after being cancelled in 2020.

The charity golf event, running June 18 at Silvertip Resort in Canmore, is celebrating its 10th anniversary milestone.

Head professional at Silvertip Chris Cooke said hosting the golf event means a great deal to the resort and they look forward to many more in the future.

“To see where Rocky Mountain Adaptive came from 10 years ago to where it is today; this brings a special feeling knowing how this event has contributed to the organization's growth over the years and the numbers of individuals who’ve been so positively affected by the work of Rocky Mountain Adaptive,” said Cooke.
