If you’ve always felt you oughta be in pictures, this weekend may be your shot at the big time.

A casting call will be held at Solara Resort (187 Kananaskis Way) in Canmore, Saturday (Aug. 18) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In all, said Alyson Lockwood of Classic Casting, an upcoming full-length feature movie will require hundreds of extras of all ages. Shooting will take place at several locales in the near future, with shooting in Banff and Canmore taking place between Aug. 20 and Sept. 19.

The as-yet-unnamed movie concerns the story of Leo Palamino (Ryan Kwanten) a failed writer/dishwasher made famous for his many flaws and shortcomings in a blog called Why You Suck written by his ex-wife. He meets Colette (Sara Canning), the girl of his dreams on the day she is marrying the perfect man.

And so the ultimate love story begins… in which Leo, a fearless dreamer, risks all to show Colette and the whole world all that is right with a man famous for being wrong. The story is based on a novel written by Tom Sandlin.

Lockwood said hundreds of extras of all ethnicities, from 12 to 70 years old, will be needed.

“The movie has church scenes, tour groups, restaurant scenes, a kid’s camp and a wedding scene, which is ideal for Banff and Canmore.

“No experience is necessary and we’ll give everyone a speech about what to do on set.”

Some extras may be asked to bring clothes with them; a cocktail dress or a suit for the men.

Kwanten may be best known for his role as Jason Stackhouse on True Blood, while Canning is from Sherwood Park, AB and had a role as Jenna Sommers in The Vampire Diaries.
