Local punk rockers opening for Trashed Ambulance in Banff

“The freight train keeps on running and we’re already working on other stuff since we’ve been in the studio. We definitely want to put it all out in one big splat.”

BANFF – A punk rock tour is about to rumble the mountains.

Red Deer's Trashed Ambulance headlines the latest shaker at the Elk and Oarsman in Banff, Sunday (July 17) with local talents Regal Foul and Human Stain getting the party started.

Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m.

The night will feature new music from Trashed Ambulance, which is touring its latest album Future Considerations, and, Regal Foul is getting in on the act of showcasing fresh stuff in front of a live crowd.

“We really want to get a mix of our old stuff and new stuff together,” said Regal Foul’s Gerry Roy. “Just because they can’t listen to it on Spotify [yet], doesn’t mean they’ll be robbed of it at the live show.”

With a sound that would feel at home in any Tony Hawk skateboarding game, the local three-piece band consisting of Roy (vocals, guitar), Brian MacEachern (vocals, bass), and Mitch McCallum (drums) has been back in the studio creating some mayhem.

The new tunes have yet to officially drop, but the Banff trio is either looking at releasing an EP or sophomore album in the near future.

“The freight train keeps on running and we’re already working on other stuff since we’ve been in the studio,” said Roy. “We definitely want to put it all out in one big splat.”

Over the next few weeks, the punk rockers are opening for Trashed Ambulance, and Canadian punk legends Ripcordz on Aug. 22 at Melissa's.

After releasing its debut album Monster's in Disguise in fall 2020, it’s safe to say Regal Foul has been looking at opportunities trying to get make-up for lost time since the pandemic. One venue that has welcomed them with open arms has been the Elk and Oarsman, which has been establishing itself as one of the go-to spots in the mountain town for live music.

“Gerry and I are getting a little older, so talking about the COVID thing, we really don’t have time to waste,” said MacEachern with a laugh. “Just being able to play and keep truckin’ is what I like about it.”

Before the Banff show though, Regal Foul will open Friday night in Red Deer for Trashed Ambulance as part of the Alberta tour for the band’s fifth studio album Future Considerations.

“That will be their big show because it’s their hometown and that will be the big official release for their album,” said Roy.
