Garry Gilmour
1958-2022
Garry Gilmour was born in May 1958 in Alberta and
died on June 2022 in British Columbia. Beloved
son of, and predeceased by, his mother, Thelma
Gilmour, and father, Victor Gilmour. Survived by
his brother, Glenn Gilmour. Self-described as a
hobo philosopher, Garry also had many friends in
Banff, Alberta where he lived for many years and
who mourn his loss. Garry worked for 13 years in
Resource Recovery for the Town and after retirement
ran for Mayor in the 2021 Banff municipal elections.
A memorial visitation was held on Friday,
October 14, 2022, at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home,
Carleton Place, Ontario. Inurnment followed at Auld
Kirk Cemetery in Almonte.
A gathering of Garry’s Bow Valley friends will
take place at the Banff Royal Canadian Legion
on Saturday 29th October between 2 and 4pm.
