THIESSEN- John Calvin Isaac Thiessen
June 23, 1962 - Dec 2, 2022. Survived by his loving wife, Debra (Deb) Thiessen (Nee Collins), children; Katelyn (Katie) Parker Thiessen; sister, Jodie Thiessen (Al Harper); sister-in-law Robyn; niece Briya; and Nephew Lev Shapiro; uncle Harry and Aunt Elvira Finnigan; Debs mother, Helen Collins, and family. Pre-deceased by his mom Joan and dad John (Peter) Thiessen; little brother Jay Shapiro; and Debs father Doyle Collins. John was born in Winnipeg, MB. He moved to Edmonton for a short time where he met his future wife Deb. They moved to Banff together then later Canmore, AB where they raised their two children Katelyn (Katie) 27, and Parker 25 1/2. In 2009 the Thiessen family moved to Kelowna. John was trained in Architecture at Red River College in Winnipeg, then became a club DJ and opened a record store in Banff prior to finding his true passion videography. John was a true romantic who loved to ski, travel, golf, cook, (grocery shop) and camp. In recent years, although in failing health he found purpose in advocating for the unhoused population in Kelowna.
