It’s Winter Wonderland at Baker Creek Mountain Resort

Baker Creek Mountain Resort is just minutes from Lake Louise. It’s situated to take advantage of the most beautiful mountain views, which guests enjoy from cozy cabins or suites. Locals and tourists have come to love this quiet resort that sits outside the hustle and bustle yet is close to all the action – but few realize just how long this resort has been in active.

“Our Winter Wonderland theme is at its peak!” says James Hauge, Baker Creek General Manager. “We’ve already got one ice sculpture installed, the ice rink is full swing, and the Loppet Race (cross-country ski multi-day race for solo skiers and teams) has already started.”

Despite the changes and challenges of COVID, there are still plenty of ways to experience the magic of winter in Banff, and Baker Creek is the best home base to experience it all.

The roots of Baker Creek stretch back to 1949 when Baker Creek Chalets was where travelers would stop to rest overnight and eat at the famous Bistro Restaurant. The name has changed and the resort has grown, but the passion for delivering the ultimate place to refresh and stay has never changed. In fact, 73 years later, Bistro Restaurant continues to be where adventurers love to dine. Although a recent fire means a temporary closure, upon renovations and reopening, Bistro will continue to be a historic landmark. Those staying at Baker Creek also have fast access to many other delicious eateries, just minutes away. For those that like to cook, most of Baker Creek’s cabins, and some of the lodge rooms, feature kitchenettes.

Baker Creek is the home-away-from-home for those that want to relax at night and get the full experience of everything Banff has to offer during the day. The rooms are a part of that experience. There are two-room cabins, some with lofts; an intimate heritage trapper cabin with a two-person jacuzzi; and a variety of deluxe suites in the lodge. No matter which room you choose, the beauty of the mountain region is right outside your window. The rooms are designed to blend with the natural landscape, making you feel at one with nature.

In fact, you may not even want to leave the resort! If your goal is to get away from the everyday and truly relax your mind, body and soul, stay put and enjoy all the on-site amenities.

Fire pits around the resort are prefect for s’mores or just sitting by the flames with someone you love. Three communal barbeques mean you can whip up your signature ribs for dinner. Don’t want to wait? No problem. Rent a private barbeque for just $25/night. You don’t have to skip leg day – a full gym featuring cardio equipment, weights, steam room and sauna right on site. Staying for more than a weekend? You’ll appreciate the laundry room. Bring your bike because the trails on the property are suited for summer cycling and winter fat biking… and those are just some of the ways you can experience Baker Creek Mountain Resort.

COVID has changed a lot but the spirit of winter in Banff can never be dampened. When events are cancelled, smaller ones with social distancing capabilities take their place. This year you can experience Winter Wonderland right at Baker Creek and avoid crowds or even going into town thanks to a fully-contained resort with everything you need for a weekend or extended stay. If you have yet to experience the magic of Baker Creek Mountain Resort, the time is now.
