STONEY NAKODA – Cochrane RCMP responded to reports of an alleged firearms threat and potential house fire in Stoney Nakoda Nation on Wednesday (Jan. 20) morning.
RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said the detachment received a call at 8:30 a.m. reporting a fight between two brothers.
“During the fight, it was reported there was a firearm that had been pointed at somebody,” Savinkoff said.
Officers from the new Stoney Nakoda satellite office initially attended the scene and later received backup from the Cochrane detachment.
While en route to the incident, RCMP received additional reports that a fire had allegedly been lit at the residence.
Savinkoff said no fire was located at the scene.
A 28-year-old man from Stoney Nakoda was arrested at the scene and charges are pending. A 12-gauge shotgun was also recovered at the residence.
