Man charged, four vehicles located in RCMP air operation

MORLEY – An RCMP air operation attempting to locate stolen property on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation led to one man being charged and four vehicles recovered, police said.

The Cochrane RCMP’s Stoney Nakoda satellite detachment conducted the one day operation, which saw ground officers coordinating with a police helicopter to search for abandoned and suspicious vehicles.

Four vehicles were recovered and a 28-year-old Stoney Nakoda man was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving and three breaches of conditions, police said.

He remains in custody and will have a court appearance in Calgary at a later date.

Police reported one incident had officers attempt to stop a suspicious vehicle, which fled the scene after hitting an RCMP vehicle. Police said the vehicle was later located abandoned.
