STONEY NAKODA – A man is facing multiple weapons-related charges after police discovered a retrofitted BB gun capable of firing .22-caliber bullets.
The Stoney Nakoda RCMP said they responded to a weapons call on April 21 after reports of a man with a gun on the Stoney Nakoda Nation.
When police arrived, they said they found the man and a nearby BB gun.
After investigating the gun further, police said it had been retrofitted to fire live ammunition.
The 22-year-old Stoney Nakoda man is facing charges of careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition without a license.
He’s scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court May 25.
